If you are looking for a cheap WordPress blog, then choosing Bluehost may be the answer. They are a great web host and I highly recommend them.

Working from home has also made my life better, as I now have a flexible schedule and I am able to work whenever I want and wherever I want.

Even people who have no previous experience with blogging can make money with a simple website. It is well worth it.

You can start your own blog with Bluehost for as little as $2.75 a month. They also have a free domain if you sign up for a 12-month hosting plan. If you are looking for a better deal, then I highly recommend purchasing a 36-month plan.

How to start a WordPress blog on Bluehost

1. Pick Your Blog’s Name

Probably the most important thing that you will need to do is to think about what your domain name will be.

I suggest writing down multiple names and then narrowing it down from there. You definitely need to choose a name that covers the niche you will be in.

And if you’re not sure what to blog about, there are a few ideas to get started:

  • Learning from life experiences can be incredibly helpful for others.
  • For instance, I helped a woman start a blog about being a firefighter’s wife. It has helped her connect with other women in similar situations.
  • You can create a blog about anything from being a stay-at-home mom to dealing with a stressful time. It could also be about a happy time or a challenging time in life.
  • A personal blog is a place where you can share your thoughts and feelings. This is a great way to connect with the world without having to limit yourself to one topic.
  • Passions and hobbies are great places to start a blog. Some of these include cooking, fashion, sports, and cars. Even though your audience is mainly made up of people in the world with the internet, it can be successful.

Getting a domain through Bluehost is very easy, as it saves you a lot of money and time. In exchange for a year of hosting, you will get a free domain.

You can also get a cheaper monthly price with at least 12 months of hosting. This is also beneficial if you plan on getting the free domain.

2. Buy Hosting For Your Blog

Now you’re probably wondering how much it really is going to cost to get your blog up and running. Well, don’t worry we’re about to cover that.

The easiest way to start a blog is by choosing the Basic plan. It only costs $3.75 per month for 36 months, and it’s only $4.95 per month if you sign up for a 12-month plan. The $4.95 is still extremely affordable, and it gives you a free domain. If you are not sure about blogging, I would still suggest going with the 12 month plan as it is still a great deal. The best value would be getting a 36 month plan instead of the 12 month plan. This will give you the best value for money. The Basic plan is the only plan that you need to start a blog now.

You can always change it later and get a different plan if you need it.

The other thing that you may want to buy when it comes to blogging is domain privacy protection, which is only $0.99 a month.

If you do not need the extras that are listed above, then you should sign up using my link and get the domain for free.

One other thing that I strongly recommend is that you renew your hosting contract every month. Doing so will prevent your website from getting shut down if it is not renewed. It will also save you money in the long run as it will reduce your monthly payment.

Overall the more years you sign up, the cheaper you pay in the long run. Think of future “you”.

The average cost of a blog is around $59 a year, and it can go down to under $100 for 3 years. The best value would be getting a 36-month plan as it has a lower monthly payment.

Once you’re ready to start your blog, follow these instructions:

  1. Go to Bluehost and click the “Get Started Now” button.
  2. Click on the package you are interested in.
  3. Enter your domain name you registered with earlier, or sign up for a new domain name here.
  4. Enter your personal and payment information.
  5. Next you will be asked to enter a password. Make sure it’s secure as this information is very important.

If you have any issues send me an email at tylerzwise@gmail.com. I’ll be happy to help.

3. Connect your domain and your hosting.

(This section can be skipped if you bought your domain directly through Bluehost.com)

If you buy a domain from Go Daddy, then you will need to establish a connection to your account. Luckily Go Daddy has a full support page to help you do just that.

You can then add the domain that you bought from GoDaddy as an addon domain to your account by clicking on the “Add domains” button.

4. Install WordPress on Bluehost.

This is it everyone, the final step.

If you are new to blogging then this is the part of the process that is easy to follow. Just go to Bluehost and start creating a WordPress blog.

  1. After creating your password, Bluehost will guide you through the steps to start a blog. The first thing that you need to do is pick a theme.
  2. Click on “Start Building”
  3. On the next screen, you can choose “Business” or “Personal” – it’s up to you. Or, you can click the “I don’t need help.”
  4. And BOOM! You’re done. Well mostly.

You now have a WordPress blog, and it will take some time to get used to the design and production of high-quality content. But, hey, just in case, I can help you get started!

If you get stuck or have questions at any point, simply send me a message and I will do my best to help you out.
